Arroyo's Open Dishonesty & Concealed Hypocrisy

One thing worst than an OPEN DISHONESTY is a CONCEALED HYPOCRISY .

Even the blind could see clearly through GMA’s call to the FILIPINO PEOPLE for a ‘new people power’ during her cabinet meeting last February 26,2008, as reported by
Joel Guinto at INQUIRER.net.

The new people power from GMA exhorts everyone in the society from the government, church, people and media to help each other to prove that truth and democracy exist in our society. Quoting GMA, she says:

Dapat pagtulungan natin lahat, gobyerno, simbahan, mamamayan at media, upang mapatunayan ng mamamayan ang katotohanan at katarungan sa ating mga institusyon ng demokrasya at hustisya. [The government, the Church, the people, and the media should help each other, to prove to the public that there is truth and justice in our democratic and legal institutions].

This is the new people power, watchful of legal processes to ensure that the truth will come out].

For all of us who have been following GMA’s record since she usurped the position of the Supreme Trustee of the welfare and interest of the Filipino nation and its people in 2004, this is another spin to hoodwink the Filipinos from the truth about the rapine of decency, truth and justice in public service during her watch.

From the time she fraudulently took the highest civilian position in the land in 2004 to the present, she left, in its wake, a swath of depredation in national governance.

Propelled by the bottomless greed for money and power, the hallowed values of a free, just and humane society were scuttled into smithereens. Statutory privileges were manipulated or abused to protect those in power from their criminal acts or omission in the performance of their obligations to the people. The vigilance of the people to secure transparency in the national governance by their leaders in government were received with mailed gloves, often times with fatal consequence on many young social activists and journalists. The principle of check and balance between the principal branches of government were more observed in violation than adherence. Accountability in public service has become a farce as close political allies, family and friends turned public office as a cash cow. Public service virtually became a cottage industry for private profit for the chosen mortals in our midst.

Now, with the explosive Lozada expose on the ZTE deal clearly reminding ONCE AGAIN the public of her dismal record of service to the people, she piously presents a facade of honest sincerity of concern and care for the law, people and country.

Tama na naman itong moro-morong ito.

This administration is foolish to believe that it could lie to us again this time. Your lying days, ladies and gentlemen are over.

After all that we were made to suffer, we already know that no one could ever cure a fool of its greed. This administration had lied to us so many times before in order for it to buy time so that it may continue in its merry greedy ways. This call for a NEW PEOPLE POWER is simply another version from the mouth of a die in the wool LIAR who has turned now into a HYPOCRITE, in order to hide the true nature and intent of the messenger to weather this growing rage of a people, long maligned and abused, for truth and justice.

The biggest liar of them all is our democratic system which puts into office only persons who are popular and not those who are capable. It’s not that I don’t want to stamp out corruption. It’s just that the main dilemma would be her constitutional successor who was voted purely because he’s popular and not because he’s capable. It’s our democratic system which cheated us big time.
But the economic numbers don’t lie.

fidel_umaga said...

PIAN, you are right in a sense. We need to improve and fine tune the operation of the democratic system of our NATIONAL ENTERPRISE.

This system consists of several components or sections under the owner with its manager, the operator- empoloyee and the machine. Like any system of an enterprise, each section has a role to play in its systemic operation. In this enterprise, we, the people, are the owner of the enterprise itself.

The machine is the government .And like any machine, it is only as good as its operator.

Now, our elected officials are the machine operators. If the operator puts in trash in the machine, we could not expect anything less than trash to come out from the machine.

The manager of the enterprise is our elected president. The manager could also abuse the operation of the machine no matter how good the operators and or the machines are. This happens when the manager gives wrong instructions to the employee-operator how to run the machine or witheld important instructions or support to the employee for the optimum operation of the machine, etc.

This is the point where I disagree with you. To mix the machine, the operator of the machine with the manager of the machine is like mixing apples and oranges with bitter melons(ampalaya, for added good measure, and comparing the natural defect of each one with the other when we are yet to do an analysis of the sytem with its components.

Yes, we are going there but not yet. We are just auditing the office of the manager, a section of the system. To prematurely jump to another stage is to extenuate unnecessarily the failure of the manager in running the operation of the enterprise.

Pian,

Kung mali ang basihan ng tao(the people, who incidentally, in our equation, is the owner of the enterprise)sa pagpili ng karapat dapat na manager, ang nagkamali ay ang tao hinde ang sistema.

At dahil mali ang basihan ng pagpili ng tao sa kanyang manager, it is only by fate or good fortune that the owner could expect to get the right manager from his decision.

As it is wrong to impute the error of the people in choosing, on the basis of popularity, their leaders,to the system, it is equally wrong to impute to the people the excesses of GMA in the exercise of her powers from her office.

First, GMA was not chosen by the people. She usurped her place before the people in 2004. Second, the putative legal colors of GMA to her present office lost all its hues of legitimacy when she abused and continuously abuse her official prerogatives. Third, her errors are her own choices. They were done without the knowledge or consent of the people. Thus, the peoples' on going " rage for truth ".

GMA has to go, not in 2010 but NOW. For the people to allow her to stay intil 2010 without making her accountable for her excesses is for the people to condone them.
To insist otherwise is to encourage further the culture of silence among a people so long abused by their elected leaders.

Pian,

The wiretapped conversation between Jun Lozada & Joey de Venecia probed that indeed they are corrupt and bolstered the authencity of the revelation.

Of course Jun Lozada is not your typical hero but you cannot discount the fact that his revelation and his decision to risk everything for the sake of decency and self-respect is heroic. How many corrupt people do you think will do the same? You don't have to like the person, it is not a requirement but we need to protect and encourage Jun Lozada from testifying what he knows in the interest of truth and justice.

The wiretap also tells us that every time there is an illegal activity going on the palace sees to it that they are monitored as in the "hello Garci" tape. So the question that comes to my mind is how many more taped conversations are with the handlers of Gloria Arroyo? Is it possible they taped Joc Joc Bolante too? How about the jueteng lords, is it possible they are also monitored? The list of scandals and wrong doing in this administartion is quite long, so the key is to get those tapes and we probably have no one left to run the government of Arroyo once that is discovered.... which they can if they want to but these are all greedy individuals looking for themselves and not the nation, but who knows?

That’s what I meant that our democratic system is illegitimate. The people elected FPJ solely because he’s popular with the masses and nothing else.

TO JAYWALKER
I do believe the opposition Senators are using Lozada purely to advance the Presidential ambitions of some, and not because they sincerely want to end corruption. The senate investigation should be as an aid-to-legislation, but they didn’t pass any law on that, this case should’ve been brought to the proper forum, which is the court, and these Senators should have cleaned themselves up right in their own backyard. But no, it’s obvious to me they’re simply making a political noise and nothing else.
I likewise believe he was abducted so his primary motivation was fear more than anything else. But there’s also this scenario I read that it was a wrestling match between the government and Lacson. Lacson did admit meeting with Lozada 6x I think before Lozada left for Hong Kong. So they may have been cooking up something.
I think he’s just taking advantage of his newfound popularity. He might be eyeing the Senate. He could be a bad and not a good influence to the youth if he keeps this up. He’s teaching this people to go against the law, subvert it and engage in a mob rule instead. He’s enjoying this immensely.

Pian,

Granted for the sake of argument that Jun Lozada is being used by the opposition, the fact remains that this administration has stooped so low in institutionalizing corruption.

I agree that the proper forum is the court but with SiRAULO GOONzales running the show what do you think will happen? What comes to mind is Acza Ramirez a whistleblower accused by the president no less as the principal suspect on national TV. We all know that nothing happened or any case was filed against the BIR big wigs, the question is why? Another thing as we are witnessing right now is the NBI in tandem with DoJ are investigating of all people the whistkeblowers, so can we rely on the courts? All these senate and congressional inquiry only shows that our legal system is broken because if they are efficiently doing their job and not acting as defense lawyers for the administration the legislative house will not have anything to grandstand on.

The group of former senate president Jovito Salonga filed a case with the Ombudsman a proper forum which we should focus on and see if it will work knowing Gloria's connection and influence with one of the justices in that court.

Who cares if Lozada is eyeing the senate it will still be up to the electorate to decide if he deserves a seat or not and besides that is still in the year 2010..... the focus should be now.

Pian,

It is not the system per-se but the improper application or abuse of the system that results in illigitimacy.

Under our democratic system, the people are supposed to freely elect their qualified and chosen leader. If later on, the chosen and elected leader of the people turned out to be unfit for the job because he was chosen for the wrong reason for his position, the error is in the choice made by the people and not in the system. The choice is made by the people and not by the system.

This is why we say that GMA usurped her position when she hijack the result of the 2004 presidential election because she abused the system. She is not a product of the system but its aberration.

But if after electing their choice of leader, the system as applied, results with someone not chosen by the people, then we can say that the system is faulty.

I have to clarify this lest we absolve GMA and her excesses and omissions in office as the result of an ILLIGITIMATE SYSTEM.

Actually, she is the toxin of illigitimacy in our benign system of democrcay.

pian said...

TO JAYWALKER
The question would then be, what is the purpose that these senators made the investigation in the Senate? Would it be because they really want to eradicate corruption or simply grandstand?
If they sincerely want to eradicate corruption and they don’t think the court to be the proper forum because they find it biased, why then did these Senators run under the party of a convicted plunderer?

pian said...

TO FIDEL UMAGA
So you say that it’s the improper use of the system which results in the illegitimacy. But it’s our voters who use the system, and they’re not using it properly (i.e. voting wisely), so the system remains illegitimate.
If you call the rallies being held here and there, the Senate investigations, and all media noises as absolving her, then I don’t know what is not.

fidel_umaga said...

Pian,

Before I proceed any further, I hope you are in this blog in good faith otherwise we ought not to waste both our time because although the odious malady called HALITOSIS with its obnoxious breath or a virulent infestation of ASCARIS is now curable by modern medicine, neither wichtcraft nor the best of current practioners of Hippocratic oath could ever cure OBSTINACY, as a passion and as a destiny, that never did anybody anything right, be they for a lady president or otherwise.

Now in our discussion, you will agree with me that the Filipino people and their democratic system are separate and distinct , albeit dependent, from each other. You will also agree with me that had the people voted wisely and chose the right leader, you would NOW say that the democratic system is legitimate and for the same reason, refrain from STILL saying that it is illegitimate. This is precisely because the mistake of the people should not be attributed as the mistake of the system because the people are separate and distinct from the system they have adopted.

Thus, if you read again my reason for clarifying your previous comment , you will note that my position is consistent from the start ---- we could not and should not attribute the sins of GMA in office to the system.

Medyo kulang lang seguro dating sa yo.

First of all, I’m not being paid for this but I’m just sharing my observation.
Ang problem kasi sa analogy mo, ang democratic system natin kasi is composed of people, hindi gaya ng sinasabi mo na makina siya.

fidel_umaga said...

Baka iba ang nabasa mong analogy!

Sa aking analogy, ang machine ay ang gobierno and the people are the owners of the business enterprise, which is the country. I did not say that the machine represents the people. That is only your take of the matter.

Read again my reply to you of 2/28.

By way of analogy again, the democratic system of our country may be likened to a business model of a business enterprise.

And like any business enterprise, the machine (government)is part of its business model as well as the form of ownership of the enterprise
(single prop.,partnership, coop or corp., etc.).

As in an enterprise where its business model is separate and distinct from its owners though they are inter-dependent,it follows therefore that in our country, our democratic system and our people are different from one another. And because of that, the fact that our people do not vote wisely could not be attribute to our democartic system.

But thanks just the same for the opportunity to correspond with you.

OK. Nalilito kasi ako sa analogy mo. So yung makina yung gobyerno. So pag ganun, di kikita ang kumpanya.

fidel_umaga said...

You got it right this time.

Pag mali ang nakuhang manager
[PRESIDENT] ng owners[PEOPEL], it is probable, not only possible, that the enterprise[COUNTRY]will later have a problem in running the machine or managing the employee-operators[OTHER PUBLIC OFFICIALS]or the whole enterprise.
