Singapore's softy soldier

Got this article from Mong Palatino about a softy Singaporean soldier.

Now if only all the soldiers are like this softy we may see an end to wars of aggression. If this young soldier can't even carry his own backpack I am sure he cannot be depended to defend his country or join in wars of aggression.

I wonder what future awaits this soldier? If he stays, that is if he has the cajones to stand the rigors of soldiering, what is the likelihhod that he will be promoted? If he gets promoted I can foresee that he will probably not just have his maid or his subordinate not just carry his backpack but emulate this Philippine General.....

Ayala Alabang Barangay Talibani Pro-Lifers ran amok

As we agonizingly laugh at the dumb and dumber theatrics of the freak circus side show of Tito Sotto in his legislative “brilliancy” of introducing a bill to ban poppy seeds, the Ayala Alabang Barangay council truly tops them all with an ordinance that effectively categorize contraceptives as a controlled substance. That is until we see another hilariously ridiculous theatrics that is coming our way, boy will we ever have a respite from all these madness. If Sotto’s bill passes, not that it will by any stretch of imagination, but in the Philippine legislative branch who knows what they are capable or incapable of doing embarrassing legislations. If Sotto’s bill passes does that mean the bakers will be treated as traffickers? Now, how exactly will they treat those who love their breads and pastries with poppy seeds in it or on top of it?

If you think the poppy seed fiasco is bad enough wait till you see how the circus unfolds down south of the itch errrr Makati. The Barangay Ayala Alabang ordinance penalizes anyone who advertises “by billboard, brochures, leaflets, flyers or similar means or any manner of form, sell, offer for free or endorse, promote, prescribe or distribute abortifacients.” Quite an ordinance I should say signed by its chairman, Alfred Xerez-Burgos Jr., and council members Alice Bacani, Joanna Calugcug, Maria Carmen Reyes, Maria Soledad Tugade, Mariano Manas Jr., Apolinario de los Santos III and Giancarlo Nazario. It was also signed by Sangguniang Kabataan chairman Juan Enrico Parfan and attested by barangay secretary Santos Rancudo. This is like the Talibani religious fanaticism but with an elitist twist or was it twisted? Not content with the prohibition even married couples will now have to get a physician’s prescription in order to buy and use contraceptives, what is this… a marijuana like substance that needs a prescription?

I wonder how the Barangay tanghod errr tanod will enforce the ordinance they passed, does that mean they have the authority to search couples for illegal possession of condoms. Remember these tanghod are not trained professional police but then again even professional police like that dumb cop in the tourist hostage massacre is not a guarantee that laws are enforced strictly. How much more with an ordinance passed by a mere Barangay policed by their sidekicks acting like cops with sticks in their hands.

Ayala Alabang is taunted err touted to be the Forbes Park of the south, you would think that majority if not all the residents are a breed apart being successful in their lives, so how can they elect ignoramuses in their Barangay council? Does that mean that most of them have a Taliban mindset allowing their Barangay officials in passing ordinances that are not just judiciary questionable but violative of womens rights. Since when did Barangay had the authority to impose their ignorant fanatical views on people and the privacy of couples bedrooms. Does that mean that they will now investigate couples that are not breeding like rabbits as a suspected condom or pill popping couples doing their sexual intramurals out to emjoy it and not to produce babies? Let me end this with an apt quote from Leah Salonga:

“Ignorance, at the end of the day, is what will be the death of us all. Plain and simple”

Gloria Arroyo & her Entourage on a US $20K Gluttons Pig Out at Le Cirque?

Gloria Arroyo and her entourage of family members together with sycophants of the political and wheeling and dealing hangers on scandalized elite New Yorkers in their pig out (or was it drinking binge?) of all place a classy Le Cirque gourmet restaurant. There is no doubt that it is not your run of the mill franchise dime a dozen restaurant but an exclusive expensive classy restaurant frequented by food connoisseurs who can afford the quality of the fare.

People who frequent the restaurant spends money within reason in dining out at the place and that is to be expected and normal. If it was so how come Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s party was noticed and landed in Washington Post gossip page six section?

If you look at the menu while it cost more if you are used to the quantity of the grub over quality offered at regular US restaurants it is expensive but not that expensive costing a house and lot in the Philippine Timbuktu or 10 Gawad Kalinga houses. Obviously if we go by what was reported she was on a drinking binge mode thus their tab went sky high over the roof as seen in this Washington Post page six article:

THE economic downturn hasn't persuaded everyone to pinch pennies. Philippines President Maria Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was at Le Cirque the other night with a large entourage enjoying the good life, even though the former comptroller of her country's armed services, Carlos Garcia, was found guilty earlier this year of perjury and two of his sons were arrested in the US on bulk cash-smuggling charges. Macapagal-Arroyo ordered several bottles of very expensive wine, pushing the dinner tab up to $20,000.

The remarkable wine list of Le Cirque is impressive to say the least housed in a climatized steel and glass tower that holds 2,000 bottles of red wine. Most of the white wines are stored in a slightly cooler glass room. The wines cost from a low $28.00 to a 1900 chateau d’yquem for $12,000, so did they go for the wine at bottom of the list which would mean they went on a binge drinking like college kids on a spring break and definitely not the top of the list as it was an army of alcoholics errrr a big party that invaded the restaurant.

Ahhh what a life, who would not go on a celebratory drinking binge considering her scandal prone administration, was “rewarded” with a “first” among Asian leaders to visit the new administration of US President Barack Obama. Who would not be greedy errr giddy at the privilege of being the “chosen one,” for sure she believes she is entitled to have a celebration with her sycophants. She being the President of dubious mandate surely has to be in a place where celebrities and people of note gather for all the poor mortals to gawk and be awed at the sight. From the looks of it a comedy of errors ensued thus they were noticed enough to be on the gossip column and .Filipinos Awake makes it more laughable with a comment at the page six article I quote below:

The Philippine president was doing her damndest best to help stimulate the US economy, you ungrateful Americans!

Arroyo is now super-rich having stolen so much during her 10-year of corrupt rule... love her and you'll get more of those money when people power oust her

Ok, don’t go blaming the rich fatso errr I meant Mike Arroyo, sorry I just can’t help that description of Luli Arroyo on her dad that it stuck with me every time Mike Arroyo is in the picture. If the reports were accurate there is no truth to the rumor that he ate the restaurant out of every food available for the night but it was the wine that the missus ordered that jacked up the tab. If this is not the height of decadence I don't know what is, especially when you see quite a number of Filipinos going hungry or worse subsisting on pagpag a term used in recycled food fished out of junk food restaurant trash bins.

Nogie Boy Nograles & the Clueless Gang of Gloria Arroyo’s 'Strong' Republicans

Blissed are the poor for they will inherit heaven, oh wait that should have been blessed but not feeling religious and with my tendency to stutter in confused state what I really meant was Gloria Arroyo and her people in blissful ignorance of their culpability. Indeed, Nogie Boy Nograles & the clueless gang of Gloria Arroyo’s 'strong' republicans has time and again never ceased to amaze us.

Ellen Tordesillas cannot believe what she is witnessing in the Legacy Ponzi scheme probe on the clueless reaction coming from Prospero “Nogie Boy” Nograles, the speaking in tongue errr current speaker of the house of ill refute ooops I meant congress not having a clue or was it pretending not to have a clue on the rules of ethics? I tend to go with pretending due to Gloria Arroyo setting the tone of nonchalance as shown in the taped conversation with back door operator errrr former Comelec Commissioner Garcillano.

Have they gone mad or we are the one going mad? It seems this strong republic of Gloria Arroyo has a tendency to appoint or railroad dumb and dumber people errr I meant people. .....so diverse in "brilliancy" to the mediocre all the way down to losers in sensitive position of governance are what we call neither here nor there, in their conscious or unconscious state of blissful ignorance.

Why neither here or there? Well, the contrast in terms of qualification are just unbelievable ranging from that of a bar flunking OmBADsman errr Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez incompetence in failing like her bar exam to prosecute high profile cases. And if they decide to prosecute wrong doers it seems to get dismissed faster than they can file one. Then we have a highly qualified bar topnotch Public Attorney Office [PAO] chief Persida Rueda-Acosta with an impressive resume’ actively defending accused men in uniform that we fear maybe of the assassins and vigilante type death squads. How she got the impression that men in the establishments are the public is beyond comprehension. Ahhh the clueless blissfulness is like a virus that easily spreads around and if the head of state suffers the same it has this trickle down effect even though they are not disciples of Reaganomics.

If only this Public Defender of the "oppressed" underlings of the Mafiosi type regime acting like a zealot in her tenacious acumen to defend the real indigents, we may actually attain some semblance of confidence in assuring a safer society, but not so with her wrong and should we say clueless priority. Now why in the name of Banana Republic does she champion the oppressor and not the oppressed is really scary. She is one brilliant lieyer errr lawyer and yet seems clueless when she ask the family of the victims of the rub out errr “encounter” to come up with solid evidence on police wrong doing is truly bizarre. How exactly will they do that? It seems this woman fails to recognize the fact that the relatives of the suspected carjackers are members of the public and therefore not with the police agency with investigative powers. The public that she was supposed to provide legal assistance against excesses of the establishment and yet acts as the defense lawyers of the accused men in uniform contrary to the intent of the creation of her office.

Confused and clueless PAO should be representing the interest of the poor victims of Legacy but it seems that the Public Attorney Office had their hands fool, errr full in representing the establishment than the public. High profile when it comes to men in uniform accused of wrong doings that sends a wrong message, not that this administration sends the right message but the end result is it only embolden scalawags in the police and military instead of consciously performing their duties in accordance with the law.

People make mistakes, so what happens if you get mistaken for a carjacker and pepper you with bullets dragging your limp body to be shot point blank purportedly to neutralize you? Your love one's are on their own in seeking justice because the Public Attorney’s Office are busy defending your killers while “legally” harassing agencies such as Napolcom and Human Rights Commission heads to inhibit themselves in their fact finding probe. And we wonder why Prospero “Nogie Boy” Nograles was asking what ethics in reference to his kulig errr colleague Parañaque Representative Eduardo Zialcita (1st district) cousin of SEC. Commissioner Jesus Martinez because he says there was no complaint against them. Hello, Nogie Boy, wake up and smell the stink in Pasig River errr coffee. The reason there is no complainant is totally understandable because ethical breach are rampant so we can’t expect anyone daring to complain. But then again since these people are neither here or there I suspect their fear of the domino effect is the main reason why no one dares come out in the open. Is it not that the committees on ethics require their members to explain why they should not be disciplined once an obvious ethics violation is committed by their members? Oh wait what ethics when no one seems to know what it is perhaps even the committee members are clueless like their speaker? Or is because the speaker's name has also been dragged into this controversy? Dang politics, yes blame it on politics the source of all that ails our nation that leaves Nograles stumped and clueless what to do?

Honorable what a title they wear, although that is a given once they get elected they should lived by it or is it honor among thieves instead that they desperately try to earn amongst themselves?

Joe the Plumber Unclogged 2010

That sounds not right huh? Unclogged as in musicians performing unplugged but this is America where one and anyone for that matter has a right to pursue their dreams even if that dream was hopefully not coming from a nightmare. Yes, Joe the Plumber also known as the unlicensed one (to the tune of McCain’s that one) is plunging his plunger to unclogged Washington of crap according to his website urging visitors to sign a petition for him to be drafted in the congressional race in 2010 challenging longtime Rep. Democrat Marcy Kaptur in the Toledo-area district.

While Joe Wurzelbacher, a.k.a. Joe the Plumber to his supporters and Joe the unlicensed Plumber to his detractors dreams of unclogging the crap out of Washington, I am just not sure how his plumbing skills will unclog the bills from his tax lien amounting to $1,182.98 errr I meant tackle the bills for legislation in case his delusion errr dream becomes a reality this time around. Will he unclog unsupportive Representatives’ private toilet or clog them if he loses out on the debate, perhaps hit them with a plunger to get them voting for his plumbing related bills? Ok, that's an exaggeration but really I don't know enough to know that one can hone one's oratorical skill while fixing those nasty toilet clog. Of course that is not to say that plumbers can't slug it out in congress because when one is gifted then it really does not matter whether you learn it from the academe or not.

There goes American politics going down the drain so to speak, inspired I supposed or was it enviously bitter of the historic moment in America’s leap forward to greater heights in seeing Barack Obama’s unimaginable bid and almost certain win of the presidency. The difference is Barack Obama while he came from modest means was at the top of his Harvard class a very smart and intelligent man through sheer determination shaped his destiny in a society that is so accepting of a leader based on his qualifications and capabilities and not one based on race.

Blame it on too much politicking of John McCain and Sarah Palin for "inspiring" Joe the Plumber to embark on another one of his dreams that now his plunger is directed at politics and not his original plan of being a $250-$280,000 earning plumbing business for a giant leap out of his $40,000 a year income as unlicensed plumber. Maybe he should strike while the crap is hot errr the iron when it is hot and use his new found fame in building up his business ownership dream instead of getting into the maze of Washington politics. On the other hand this maybe a short cut to name brand wardrobe, expensive make-up artist, haircuts wait maybe that is not exactly necessary since he is bald errr just shave his head, free meals, accommodations, and travel just like Sarah Palin's so forget about owning a business and just be in the business of politics.

This is a good development and we will see if dreaming and popularity is enough to land one a seat in congress......... if that happens and he gets drafted I am sure whoever he will run against will welcome it with open arms..... just like how Michelle Bachmann's opponent Elwyn Tinklenberg getting massive support without doing anything and let his opponent do her own self-destruction. The only problem is this will make the Philippine jokers errr politicians so happy to get validated by the conduct of American politics that this all about a popularity and personality contest.......But then again problems arise when one is unwittingly without the proper vetting process is thrust onto center stage..... Joe the unlicensed Plumber flip flopping like John McCain is changing the course of his dreams, his dreams of running in the 2010 congressional race will literally bring American politics down the.........DRAIN, LOL.

Sarah Palin the side kicked errr vice-presidential running mate of John McCain minces no words in calling Obama’s tax plan socialist. Thanks to Joe the Plumber the poster boy of business ownership dreamers who was able to extract the “socialist agenda" of Barack Obama. The McCain-Palin ticket’s new found “cause” or was it causing another misleading issue which may have pushed Colin Powell to endorse Obama, to quote:

Powell said he had grown tired of McCain's negative campaigning and that the American people would prefer to focus on issues like education, infrastructure and the economy. He specifically slammed Palin's allegation that Obama's tax plan is socialist, calling it misleading.

"Taxes are always a redistribution of money. Most of the taxes that are redistributed go back to those who pay them -- in roads and airports and hospitals and schools," President Bush's former secretary of state said. "And taxes are necessary for the common good, and there's nothing wrong with examining what our tax structure is or who should be paying more, who should be paying less.

Who are the socialists then? Well, as far as Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is concerned he thinks and taunt George Bush to be on the left of him now upon learning that the feds are buying stocks in the banking institution and yet not a whimper from the McCain-Palin camp. What’s up with these Republicans and their not so nice supporters accusing Obama as a "Socialist" do they happen to be living under a rock these past few weeks while the Bush Republican administration just socialized our entire banking and finance industries? is that ironic or what? While here they are accusing Barack Obama of being a socialist yet those in the left calls their party leader a comrade is just hilarious.

Speaking of Joe the Plumber and Sarah Palin, on 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,' on Oct. 16, Jay Leno's joke really stings, lol:

Joe the Plumber has been all over the place. He's been on 'Good Morning America,' he's on Fox News, he was talking to the Associated Press. This plumber has done more interviews in one day than Sarah Palin has done since being chosen by John McCain.

It is just unbelievable how they portray Joe the Plumber as if he truly represents blue collar middle class dreaming of buying a $250-$280K income when he presently makes $40K a year makes you wonder how he is going to pull it off. Well with all the interview and attention he is getting and if he joins a union and get a license he may just get into business ownership. On the other hand maybe his focus just like the McCain-Palin camp is kind of cross eyed coming from this advice at Bay State Liberal Blog:

JOE THE NON-UNION, UNLICENSED, SCAB PLUMBER gives a bad name for Unionized Journeymen plumbers.

Using McCain’s 6-Day 10hr shifts Joe could have made in excess of $250,000.00 WITHOUT EVEN OWNING THE BUSINESS!

You say how? An PRIMARY "A" DIVISION JOURNEYMEN in LOCAL #1 makes $80.26 per hr (including benefits) X 6 days a week 10 hrs a day = $3,210.40 Regular Time + 20 hrs OT @ $120.29 = $2405.80 = $5616.20 x 52= $292,042.40! So JOE THE "SCAB" PLUMBER could pay his TAXES and get a new van if he was a PROUD AMERICAN "A" DIVISION JOURNEYMEN in LOCAL #1.

There Joe, I think raising funds to buy a business earning $250-280K will surely cost more than what they earn so time to save up and worry about the taxes when you get there. Stop worrying about the "socialist" at this point, what you should worry about is the shrinking middle class and under Barack Obama's platform it is about giving the middle class a break and strengthening of the middle class by helping the poor hopefully to get there too.

So far what the McCain-Palin rhetoric does to “energize” the conservative base is seeing some of our relatives and friends who sends us spam e-mail about Obama being a Manchurian candidate, an Al Qaeda sympathizer or worse a Muslim as if being a Muslim makes one a terrorist when Obama was raised a Christian. What is worse is when you see these kind of people and hopefully they are not the so-called conservative base (or are they?) in this you tube posted by Ana at Manila Bay Watch below:

I don't know about you but I am so sick of the hate and distortions that is similar to watching those reality TV shows. Why, even Michelle Malkin the die hard conservative now says that it was Republican Bush that is the biggest socialist. So, with John McCain and Sarah Palin still insisting on portraying Barack Obama as a socialist is just beyond me. Maybe instead of the politics of fear, hate, and polarizing the people portraying Barack Obama as the make believe ideological leftist and fueling the rights' unfounded fear and anger, it will be nice to see something different like Barack Obama and Sarah Palin doing their own socializing........ not in the "socialist" ways...... but something like this one below for a change.........

Stock Market: It's all Monkey Business

Once upon a time in a place overrun with monkeys, a man appeared and announced to the villagers that he would buy monkeys for $10 each. The villagers, seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out to the forest, and started catching them. The man bought thousands at $10 and as supply started to diminish, they became harder to catch, so the villagers stopped their effort.

The man then announced that he would now pay $20 for each one. This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching monkeys again. But soon the supply diminished even further and they were ever harder to catch. So people started going back to their farms and forgot about monkey catching.

The man increased his price to $25 each and the supply of monkeys became so sparse that it was an effort to even see a monkey, much less catch one. The man now announced that he would buy monkeys for $50! However, since he had to go to the city on some business, his assistant would now buy on his behalf.

While the man was away the assistant told the villagers. "Look at all these monkeys in the big cage that the man has bought. I will sell them to you at $35 each and when the man returns from the city, you can sell them to him for $50 each."

The villagers rounded up all their savings and bought all the monkeys. They never saw the man nor his assistant again and once again there were monkeys everywhere.

Now you have a better understanding of how the stock market works!
