Traydor!

That is a strong Spanish word meaning traitor and with its adoption into the Pilipino dialects coupled with the repetitive experiences of a nation betrayed that word carries strong emotional weight.

At this time that is the most apt word to describe Manny Villar, Chiz Escudero, Alan Peter Cayetano as well as all the other senators elect who won in the wake of strong opposition sentiment and who are now capitulating to a majority in the incoming senate dominated by the administration.

No amount of justification saying that they will still act as opposition can be acceptable.

Traydor!

I voted for Chiz, and Alan Cayetano - making sure that i got the 'Alan' part right. Now i see that those are wasted votes.

Traydor!

And I voted for Trillanes and Koko Pimentel and from the early signs I see these will not be wasted votes and the possibility that these two young men will someday lead the country in tandem as President and Vice-President is a very gratifying thought.

But Manny Villar! Sayang! (what a waste!)

I was about to vote for Manny Villar - but i had second thoughts and eventually did not. These recent events proved me right. Traydor!

In effect Manny Villar was a Trojan horse all along!

Traydor!

That word is a very good word and fits Manny well. If he has not realized it yet he has just lost the 2010 presidential elections.

Traydor!

The people are awake. About 11 million of them. And more if we count those votes shaved from the vote that Trillanes actually got. There is a core of about the same number that confirms such wakefulness in the votes that Koko Pimentel got. We will build on that core. And we will remember.

For the others we only have one word. And one word works for wise men and even sometimes for fools.

Traydor!

We will remember!
