Mindanao Highway of Peace

“Ours is a wounded generation because of war, rebellion, and conflict in Mindanao and other parts of the country. Many Mindanaoans are hurt, hungry, and homeless. Many Mindanaoans flock to Manila and other cities to squat and make life difficult for everyone.”

Giving Peace A Chance

Here is another good one (Mindanao Highway of Peace) from my friend in The Netherlands Grace Cabactulan of Women for Peace advocate in Mindanao. Peace indeed can be achieved especially if you address the basic needs of people no matter what religion or beliefs you have. A place ravaged by war where ambushes, killings, and kidnappings becomes a daily routine in just an instant transform into one peaceful place where Filipino Muslims and Christians showing what peaceful co-existence means in the real meaning of the word and deed.

Who says that the Filipinos have faulty DNA, this should give some numb nuts a smack at the back of their hollow heads that keeps on blaming our Filipino DNA for all the malaise they see in our society. This is the true spirit of Bayanihan where for once we see these local government officials in partnership with Gawad Kalinga and the local people paving the highway (unlike the infamous some sectors call “D. Macapagal Highway Robbery” of GMA) of peace and understanding. Democracy in action….participatory in nature, I’ll take this anytime and hopefully our future elected officials will for once set the standards of accountability and responsibility.

The message was clear in the video clip and I quote:
“Ours is a wounded generation because of war, rebellion, and conflict in Mindanao and other parts of the country. Many Mindanaoans are hurt, hungry, and homeless. Many Mindanaoans flock to Manila and other cities to squat and make life difficult for everyone.”
How true indeed and when those dire government resources are squandered by public officials it gets even worse. I give this video a thumbs up and hopefully you too, this one really tugs at the heart………... it makes me want to listen to John Lennon’s “imagine” and the very popular “give peace a chance.

Imagine
Warning this video is very powerful and emotionally sensitive click Imagine and click top most left column)
By: John Lennon

Imagine there's no heaven,
it's easy if you try,
no hell below us,
above us only sky.

Imagine all the people,
living for today.

Imagine there's no countries,
it isn't hard to do,
nothing to kill or die for,
and no religion too…………
