Coronavela ends with a spike in Waiver Drama

The drama highlighted by the three dissenters for all the wrong reason earning them the MAD (Marcos, Arroyo, Defensor-Santiago) cow disease award, ok seriously their take was out of this world. In Neal Cruz Column As I See It he says that one has to be deaf, blind, gullible, and stupid for any of the senators to acquit Corona. Well, Joker is aging and probably going deaf and blind, and certainly going the gullible and the stupid route, hehehe.

As for Miriam, please don't add insult to the deaf and blind people by associating their physical disability on how Miriam "Brenda" Santiago's decides where her vote goes. Miriam is definitely losing it so her decision may not have anything to do with being deaf, blind, and gullible but borderline stupidity may be an option except insane people are not exactly stupid, LOL.

We now know that both voted for acquittal and there is no point insulting the deaf and blind community, hehehe. They surely deserved to be with Bongbong Marcos who of course being the former dictators' son is just like Corona who can't tell what is legal or not, and can't tell if money laundering is a legal or illegal act, LOL.

On another front looks like the justices finally landed back to earth after their dense midnight appointee took them on a shameless roller coaster ride disguised as a courageous fight for martyrdom to assert the unassailable independence of the third Reich errr division of government. What a show it was a show that never lacks in the characters braggadocio that is farcical at best and yet people kept at it even those not keen on watching dumb telenovelas.

Slowly decency seems to be on a comeback but for the justice to be on the right track they must fire the gay errr guy named Midas Marquez whose loyalty was with Corona and not the institution. Better yet they should abolish their tattle tale department or PIO (Public Information Office daw), after all it is the job of the lawyers to explain their decision to their clients. Besides what is there to explain if the decision as we all know came from those imbued with wisdom whose decision are based on merits and correct interpretation of the law and constitution. Or are they telling us that they are a bunch of flip flopping old farts who can’t decide what is their decision (PALEA Case) that a propagandist errr spokesman need to elaborate and explain those decisions that they are the only ones who seem to understand?

Surprisingly the Coronavela was a top rated show and as expected we have a cacophony of wannabe actors scrambling to get in front of the cameras. It seems that even with the final season episode over signifying the end of the Coronavela drama unless Corona decides to take this drama to his former turf the Supreme Court, then it might make a major comeback. But unlike the impeachment court the Supreme Court is not known or will allow their proceeding to be aired. The problem is who among Corona’s lawyers who are crazy enough to bring the case to the SC knowing it will create a constitutional crisis and they are the ones that instigated it. Enrile already stated they will defy the SC if ever it happens for the simple reason that it is beyond the SC’s jurisdiction.

The conviction is final and whether Ranato Corona and his family likes it or not it is done and over with. He better stop the hospital confinement and wheelchair drama. It is best that he start packing up and look for a job in the private sector. As much as we hate to see Renato Corona go complete with a very dramatic shedding of tears that makes spoiled brat crybabies look so adorable, he has reach the end of the line. I don’t know if people can say they enjoyed his performance especially when he can’t get his facts straight babbling wrong facts and figures that are not even funny anymore that if true will make him an 11 year old or even younger currency trader whiz kid. He even tried to fool the senator judges that he is dumb and stupid when it comes to basic accounting principles of debit and credit, a tax lawyer who used to head one of SGV’s corporate tax department.

Arrogance really makes one dumb and stupid when one is so used to misdeeds and getting away with it or getting caught and not held responsible or accountable with even a slap on the wrist. Under said circumstance most criminals in high places will naturally get this nasty feeling of entitlement. Then it is followed by delusions thinking they are so beyond everyone else that their disdain for the public truly shows when they come up with a shallow stance thinking the public is that gullible.

Will the signing of the waiver become the new trend among public officials elected and appointed in order to enable the Sandiganbayan to look into their bank accounts? So far 4 justices seem to follow the trend of signing waivers but while the gesture appears genuine the point is to declare illegal or strike down the antiquated irrelevant absolute secrecy on dollar deposits. Bah, humbug! Did they forget or are they suffering from dementia este amnesia or was it Alzheimer? The absolute secrecy on dollar bank account is a legacy from former number no. 1 thief of them all the frozen stiff dictator Marcos. The law was intended to “attract foreign investors" to deposit their much needed foreign currency into our banking system to balance the dollar deficit at the time. Today is 2012 wherein 10% of the population are dollar earners that not only props up the sagging economy of the Philippines but offset our foreign currency deficiency. As a matter of fact we have a surplus of dollars now that we have recently been a lender, so why are these morons still trying to fool the people on the importance of antiquated absolute bank secrecy when it only helps money launderers.

As a final act of decency and to fish out their credibility out of the toilet bowl since they supported the CJ pretender and worse Gloria Arroyo with their nasty TROs they must all tender their irrevocable resignation effective immediately.

As if the drama on waiver is not ridiculous enough we have the PNP (Philippine National Police) spokesman saying signing a waiver is a personal choice for the police and then followed it up with they have to consider what their wife and kids has to say about it. Mga bugok talaga, it is never a personal choice to sign a waiver it is a matter of decency, integrity, and transparency.

The individuals' right to privacy is never an absolute, it ends when one is involved in illegal activity.

Why in the name of plundering corrupt public officials are the authorities so obsessed with abiding by a law that does not contribute anything towards a better society but only enables and encourage public officials to be corrupt and launder their ill-gotten wealth under cover of the bankrupt absolute secrecy law?

Hopefully this time around our leaders will be focused more on following thru with the gains it has achieved with Corona's conviction by holding him responsible and accountable for his misdeeds.

One of the positive and promising results of the conclusion of the impeachment trial is that our flawed culture on seeing the sick as pitiable and fragile seems to have been smashed to pieces. The flawed culture of awa that has been the tool of the scoundrels is not working anymore but in order to completely eradicate our misplaced sense of pity a resolute and determined push is needed to go after all the crooks in high places. It must not stop with Corona and Arroyo, there should be no sacred cows, all the corrupt must be brought to court, tried, and once proven guilty handed down sentences accordingly, we may see the dawn of a new beginning.

It appears that people from all sides whether pro or against the conviction are demanding that all politicians specifically the representatives all 189 of them to sign a waiver including Senator Frank Drillon. Ouch, looks like some if not most of them are in a bind and this is where Erap made a mistake in whining about being specifically targeted when there are others crooks too. This is where I see the brilliance or was it Corona's wise guy mentality of if I fall I will also bring down most of you down. Unfortunately for him and fortunately for the people an acquittal is more problematic and the decadence will probably reached a chaotic point beyond anyone’s control.

Do they really have a choice when Corona himself acted like one of the prosecution lawyers in a very poor performance taking the witness stand? It was apparent that those we expect to acquit voted to convict knowing there is a political price to pay but what they did not foresee was the clamor for them to sign unconditional waiver. Will most of them sign a waiver or pretend there was never a clamor while hoping that in time with the personality and patronage politics in place they can weather the storm? The question is how long can they delay or skirt the issue of signing the waiver and not get branded as a member of the exclusive "Honorable Palusot Society?"

There is something in that image that resembles some of our politicians attitude, the sign that say "Hoy huwag kang mag asal aso" (Hey, don't behave like a dog), very telling is it not? Some people know very well that they should not pee there or any wall for that matter and they still insist on doing so regardless of being seen like an animal with a dog manner. Oh well old habits as ugly as it is are difficult to change but I am sure it will come........

Renato Corona Guilty!

With the exception of 3 senator judges namely Miriam Santiago, Bongbong Marcos, and Joker Arroyo, 20 senator judges rendered guilty verdict on article II of the impeachment complaint filed against Renato Corona.

A guilty verdict has definitely raised the bar on transparency where politicians will now be forced to declare diligently and truthfully their SALN which Chiz Escudero eruditely mentioned in his guilty verdict decision. The members of the senate rendering a guilty verdict are the following:
  • Edgardo Angara, LDP
  • Alan Peter Cayetano, Nacionalista
  • Pia Cayetano, Nacionalista
  • Franklin Drillon, Nacionalista
  • Francis Escudero, Independent
  • Jinggoy Estrada, PMP
  • Teofisto Guingona III, Liberal
  • Gregorio Honasan, Independent
  • Panfilo Lacson, Independent
  • Lito Lapid, Lakas-Kampi
  • Loren Legarda, NPC
  • Sergio Osmeña III, PDP-Laban
  • Francis Pangilinan, Liberal
  • Aquilino Pimentel III, PDP-Laban
  • Ralph Recto, Liberal
  • Bong Revilla, Lakas-Kampi
  • Tito Sotto, NPC
  • Antonio Trillanes IV, Independent
  • Manny Villar, Nacionalista
  • Juan Ponce Enrile, PMP
Will the Corona camp bring this to the supreme court when only the senate has jurisdiction over impeachment trials and no other agency or court, but then again anything can happen in the Philippine political arena.

The days spectacle as usual came from the frothing in the mouth errr hysterical Miriam Santiago with her standard tantrum deliberation berating once again the prosecution and her colleagues who she says has a holier than thou attitude. Was that an unwitting admission that she is surrounded by corrupt colleagues and that she alone is not and the only superwoman who can tackle corruption?

Funny that she wished to get struck right there and then and at the same time asking for 2 lives to have the time to investigate all the anomalies. I just don't know if those who were witnessing her antics are wishing she gets struck by lightning but it sure was a spectacle to watch and only a Brenda errr Miriam Santiago can deliver something like that flawlessly, LOL.

Brenda's tirade was so annoying which makes me wonder if she was instrumental in some of the senators that I did not expect to render a guilty verdict. Now how wild is that? I believe some just got so insulted by being branded as holier than thou that instead of attracting fools for acquittal on her side pissed them off so bad and got insulted to the point of going opposite her acquittal to guilty, hehehe.

Another surprise was Joker Arroyo, a former human rights lawyer who used to be in the forefront of the struggle defending human rights victims fearlessly during the dark days of martial law. His not guilty verdict was actually expected but what is surprising is when he compared or made reference of the impeachment trial back to 1972. Since when did culpable violation of the constitution become similar to the dark days of martial law? Poor Joker he seems to be sinking while Juan Ponce Enrile his former adversary and former Marcos martial law enforcer is shining in an apparent reversal of roles quite diametrically opposed to their former position or where they started. But that is the nature of the beast in a patronage and personality based political system where the absurd and unexpected seems to flow naturally.

If everything goes smoothly we may see Gloria Arroyo and her cohorts conviction too in the criminal cases filed against them. One thing is sure there will be a lot of people who will be happy to see that we are indeed taking the path towards good governance. Of course even the paid supporters of the past administration will be happy since they will be deriving income out of this by being Arroyos paid attack dogs. What is even more pathetic are those who until can't accept defeat in the past presidential election and will continue belly aching even to the point of being seen as supporters of the past corrupt regime.

Neal Cruz in an article titled Corona's own Yamashita treasure stated that the senators who will vote for acquittal including Joker Arroyo and Miriam Santiago are either blid, deaf, gullible or stupid.

Well, Joker is aging and probably going deaf and blind, and certainly going the gullible and and the stupid route, hehehe.

Some people will probably not see the significance of this historic impeachment trial, a first in the history of the Philippines. Unlike the Estrada impeachment marred by walkout, no not by the accused like what Corona did but the minority that ended the trial without finishing it. For once lying took a beating, but with Corona's deluded or rather twisted interpretation of non-disclosure of dollar bank account because he did not want to commit illegal act did him in. Had the rest of the senators believed or took his lie hook line and sinker like the 3 stooges errr those who decided for acquittal, it would have set a precedence in actually legitimizing money laundering in the land of Palusot Republic.

The guilty verdict outcome is a testament that the people can't take hoodlums in robe making a mockery of not just the laws of the land but the very essence of a just, decent, and fair society. This should signal the advent of a new culture where wheelchair and feigned illnesses must not and never will be a factor in how a case is decided. I see a promising future and let not those who makes a killing on the corrupt environment thwart our destiny of building a better future for the next generation and others to come.......

    Grace Padaca

It is ironic that under the administration of President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino who won on the platform of anti-corruption and good governance, one of the pillars and strong advocate for good governance is on the verge on being thrown to jail. Now how can something like this happen or why is this happening truly makes the Philippines one bizarre place turning into a fraud republic.

I don't think the charges against former Isabela Governor Grace Padaca will fly, but no one is under the impression that being an advocate for good governance in a society where the culture of corruption is endemic will be a walk in the park.  Of course there will be remnants of the past corrupt administration whose purpose in life is to preserve the past corrupted practice in order to protect their vested interest.

How can we allow such travesty from happening in an administration that promise to lead us to the narrow straight path of good governance?
    ******************************************************

Official Kaya Natin! Statement of Support to former Isabela Gov. Grace Padaca

Official Kaya Natin! Statement of Support to former Isabela Gov. Grace Padaca

We, the champions of Kaya Natin! Movement for Good Governance and Ethical Leadership are deeply saddened by the recent turn of events confronting our co-founder, former Isabela Governor Grace Padaca.

With firm conviction, we continue to believe in the untarnished integrity and commitment to genuine public service of former Gov. Padaca and we continue to stand by her in these trying times.

The accusations and cases filed leveled against her are unfounded, and are clearly being used by her political enemies to derail her efforts in delivering better and more responsive public service to her constituents, particularly the farmers who have benefitted from her loan assistance program. Since the program was stopped, many Isabelino farmers are once again enslaved by heavy debt and mired in poverty, what with the high interest rates of private lenders in the province.

As a real Champion of transparency as well as ethical, effective and empowering leadership, former Gov. Padaca ensured that all actions relating to the Hybrid Rice Project were above board – seeking authorization of the Provincial Board and consulting with stakeholders before entering into an agreement with the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) which provided the necessary funds for the program.

We strongly appeal to the Sandiganbayan to dismiss the case filed against the good Governor. We are confident that in the review of the records of the case, you will see why even the reviewing prosecutor who studied and evaluated the case in-depth recommended that it be dismissed for lack of probable cause. What was once the envy of many farmers throughout the country, Isabela’s Rice Project, has been maligned and turned into political propaganda by those that seek to stand in the way of change and progress, forgetting that in so doing, it is our farmers that suffer. Many farmers benefitted from this ingenious and noble project which had for its aim nothing more than to give a better quality of life to those who labor and toil away tirelessly in our fields. The Isabela Rice Project under the auspices of former Gov. Padaca can be counted among the successful programs that truly wanted to give our farmers a better source of living. By condemning projects like this and those who pursued their ends, we condemn our farmers to the life of hardship they know all too well.

What happened to former Gov. Padaca is another case of injustice in our country where the corrupt use all their power and influence to ensure that effective, ethical and empowering leaders are discouraged from practicing good governance and becoming more proactive in helping uplift the lives of every Filipino.

We appeal to the Filipino people to continue to support the likes of former Gov. Padaca who have continued to place the interest of the poor and powerless above their own.

We hope that this will serve as a challenge to all of us to become more proactive in supporting good Filipino leaders and to do our share to ensure a better Philippines.

    Signed:
    • Jesse Robredo, Secretary, Department of the Interior and Local Government
    • Eddie Panlilio, former Governor, Pampanga

Renato Corona vs. Jose Basa III

Where I come from it is not kosher to malign one who is already deceased since they are not capable of defending themselves. Of course one who has no sense of propriety in the first place cannot be expected to act like a gentleman. Below is part of cry baby errrr impeached CJ Renato Corona's testimony in his impeachment trial assailing the late Jose Basa III a blood relative of Cristina Corona and uncle to Carla with a golden voice errrr the winning bidder to the auctioned BGEI stocks owned by the deceased Jose Basa III for a mere P28K.

The press conference of the family of Jose Basa.

Funny how Corona in all malice taunts the Basa family picturing them as fugitives unwilling to face the legal accountability of their "libel conviction," and yet illegally garnishing a dead man's family corporate stocks. Considering that Corona is the chief justice he ought to know better that death extinguishes the conviction and therefore the garnishment is highly illegal.

The Basa family are in the dark to this day never saw an accounting on the proceeds of the property income, it was only through the impeachment court that they are now slowly beginning to learn what has happened.

This is definitely a very ugly family fight and if the man who occupies the highest judiciary seat in the land adds instead of resolve the quarrel, it will only show the kind of justice we can expect.

On another note Manila Satandard as usual publishes an obviously biased pro-corrupt este Corona garbage worthy not even to wipe someone’s behind in their call of nature. MAGKANO BA este why in the name of diversionary tactics will Corona resort to such cheap trick intended for the partisan gullible in the impeachment court who as a lawyer ought to know better?

As a lawyer and a chief justice at that, one should live and act accordingly befitting his title if he really deserves to be called "honorable." Where is honor in accusing people with charges in an open court without a shred of evidence and without filling charges brought against them so they can answer his accusations in the proper forum? Was it because Lolo Cuevas is telling the truth that he is mentally unfit thus he acts with impropriety (not that he is known to act like one, hehehe) unbecoming of an officer of the court and the head honcho at that.

I say go to the Ombudsman, I am sure Justice Morales will obliged him if he has the goods to indict those who signed his impeachment including Sen. Drillon. One can't just turn his accuser as the accused without going through the required due process which he has demanded and expected that it is has to be observed in the strictest sense in his case. So what gives, why is he not giving those representatives the due process that everyone deserves?
    ************************************
    Update:

The scene during the break at the impeachment trial of Renato Corona is a welcome sight that tugs at the heart. The Basas on a 30 year long family feud suddenly found themselves reconciling and finally realized that they are blood relatives who should act civilly with each other.

Indeed the Basa's showed more class than the thug cry baby Renato Corona. One does not have to be adversary to resolve conflicting interest, after all blood is thicker than water. Its only money so they say and it can be earned especially if one is a whiz kid like Corona who started currency trading as a boy, hehehe.

The Basa's who was maligned, abused, and oppressed by the Corona's showed civility and while there are still issues to be resolved it will be easier if it is done in all civility.

This is a side issue and must not affect whatsoever the senate verdict as their long standing family feud has nothing to do with the impeachment case.

Normally that would have been a happy ending except there is never a happy ending when you deal with congenital liars. According to Raissa Robles in her blog titled "Mukhang nauto yata tayo" - Cecilia Basa, the tear jerker we witnessed was nothing but a calculated move to gain the sympathy of the senator-judges and the public.

In an explosive exclusive report by Raissa it appears that Cristina Corona approached her cousins and aunt as a gesture of reconciliation to which people with breeding will  as expected respond in a civil manner. This is exactly where the cultural divide between the Corona's and the Basas becomes very obvious. Bad people especially the greedy ones will almost always misread nice people as a sign of weakness instead of looking at them as upright social individuals. If said report is accurate wherein Cristina Corona was reported to have "forgiven" her relatives, (say what now? She forgave them?) and never did she say sorry, offered her phone or invited them for future get together. Now that's one sick pathetic delusional individual and her family who sees nothing wrong with tomb raiding unable to discern what is right from wrong. Do we even wonder why the thief errr midnight chief justice even has the gall to look at himself as a martyr fighting till the end in a cause or was it cost that only delusional or Mafiosi individuals will understand?

Kaya Natin on Harvey Keh's Corona Impeachment Trial Testimony

Opisyal na pahayag ng Kaya Natin! Movement

Ang Kaya Natin ay isang volunteer movement for Good Governance and Ethical Leadership na itinatag noon pang July 2008.

Jesse Robredo: Ramon Magsaysay Awardee for Government Service 2000
Grace Padaca: Ramon Magsaysay Awardee for Government Service 2008
Fr. Ed Panlilio: Pari at dating Gobernador
