Migz Zubiri, Advocate for a Clean Election

Onli in da Philippines

In normal decent societies when one cheats especially if that person is an elected public servant they disappear out sight with their head bowed in shame. In Japan hara kiri (suicide) is resorted to when one’s integrity and honor has been tainted and shamed.  In the Philippines ruled and dominated by the Trapos under a patronage and personality driven politics cheating seems to be the norm.  Honest, clean, and transparent election is unheard of and definitely an exception to the rule, lol.  Case in point is the shameless Migz Zubiri who stole 3 years of Koko Pimentel’s senate seat resigning only when the SET (Senate Electoral Tribunal) was about to rule in favor of Pimentel. Normally that would have been the end of it and the cheaters career as a politician but who says honesty is a virtue so important with Philippine traditional politicians or Trapos?

Where in the world will you find an electoral cheat advocating for clean and honest election? Yes, onli in da Philippines where instead of disappearing out of the public sight, Philippine politicians of the Zubiri kind resurrects like a zombie that refused to die even though it is already dead.  Worst not only did he not disappear, he even had the dense temerity to once again run for the senate seat which he claims was to give him the opportunity for a clean slate. Of course in the Philippines one can hoodwink or openly scam the public with outrageous lies and they don’t even worry about the repercussions because the Filipino electorate seems to be clueless and had no way or means to hold their erring elected public servants accountable.

The Philippine authorities are hell bent on intimidating its citizens to follow the law and any simple infraction will be dealt with accordingly, that is as far as mortal citizens are concerned. Failure to vote is enough to have your name deactivated in the voters list and yet a politician caught cheating are ignored and no sanction of whatever kind is imposed on them. You would think that failure to vote is a very minor infraction compared to cheating which is criminal that should be punishable by imprisonment and forever banned from running for elective position. And yet here they are acting as if they were heaven sent leading us to righteousness. Funny how Jess Diaz of Philippine Star tries to peddle blatant lies as if Zubiri’s cheating did not happen and Pimentel’s accusation was merely an allegation. It makes one wonder how he appears clueless when he was citing the case brought to the Senate Electoral Tribunal, is it a case of ATM induced reading comprehension or something else?

Zubiri as a clean election advocate is a hard sell to say the least but of all people Diaz chose to quote Marcos martial law enforcer and historical revisionist Enrile, to bolster his argument, which I quote:
“Never had I thought that I would witness today a show of moral courage…Many people in this life possess physical courage, but rarely did I see a man stand up to what he believes in.”

What exactly did Zubiri believe in if I may ask? LOL. One who got caught with his pants down resigned early enough to preempt the forthcoming SET decision is not exactly courageous but a weasel act to avoid further embarrassment and officially declared a cheater is supposed to be standing up for his beliefs? Onli in da Philippines where a cheater successfully dodging a decision that will forever stick a cheater label on him is considered morally courageous, but then again that is coming from Enrile and that is to be expected, hehehe.

Magkano ba este what persuades a journalist to peddle obvious lies is something that escapes me, but this is the Philippines where journalist are accused of writing ATM inspired articles. Not a surprise when the candidates in the Mafia syndicates err political alliance of UNA and aNoynoying Team are composed of political dynasties and characters not exactly a good role model for integrity.

Of course we can’t expect articles from ATM errr journalist that delve on what decent societies consider as morally upright when the contending political parties like UNA has a convicted plunderer, election cheater, a renegade military repeat mutineer, and supported by a convicted pedophile. It does not help that the administration alliance had people that are no better than UNA but just the same are not exactly believers of their narrow straight path of righteousness but chosen for their ability to win and able to carry the party to victory in their local turf.

This election is really turning to be a big joke but it seems the joke is on us thus no one is really laughing but the trapos all the way to the bank……….

Imee Marcos, Manny Villar, & JV Ejercito’s Offshore Secret Bank Accounts

Where is the outrage?

Imee Marcos and her sons was the first to be exposed by PCIJ owning secret offshore bank accounts followed by Manny Villar and JV Ejercito. These are just the initial installment of people with secret offshore bank accounts, expect more names to follow considering that what the International Consortium of Investigative Journalist (ICIJ) has uncovered dwarfed the WikiLeaks in comparison. Lest some pathetic narcissist politicians fool you people into believing this is a local demolition job to spoil their chance of winning a pillaging privilege seat in public office, take note that this is an international investigation.
While it is shocking to discover that there are Filipino politicians even the disgraced ones whose dictator father has been deposed for the pillage and plunder of the Philippines, this is really not just about them but an investigation into the workings and how the offshore banking system can be taken advantage by all sort of international criminals. Lest some local politicians fool themselves and the people that the world revolves around them this is a cache of 1.5 million files of 120,000 offshore companies measured in gigabytes that is 160 times the size of WikiLeaks. A treasure trove of information needing 86 journalists from 46 countries to sift through the documents that goes back to 30 years of transactions.

It’s a veritable who’s who of the international rich and famous and of course the infamous like con men, corrupt politicians, tax evaders, money launderers and international criminals but what is downright pathetic if not excruciatingly comedic is the reaction of some named characters and their shallow partisan in the Philippines. Typical response was that of JV Ejercito questioning the “timing” of the revelation which he claims was a “demolition job” for his being a top contender in the senatong errr senate election. Excuse me but is he saying the 86 journalists from 46 countries should wait for the results of the Philippine election before they divulge their findings? Pardon me while I barf at the shameless narcissism but does he really think he is that important to the international community of journalist?

Where is the outrage? Is it because people are busy trying to make a living or scrambling for the crumbs thrown by the candidates in the patronage and personality popularity contest we mistook for electoral exercise? Anyway, a look at the date of the opening of the offshore secret bank account of JV Ejercito shows it was in 1999. JV is a private citizen at the time the account was set-up who became the mayor of San Juan in 2001, where did he get the money to set up a dollar account and a secret offshore bank account at that? One thing we know is his ex-convict father Erap given presidential executive pardon by a potential soon to be convict Gloria Arroyo was the president when he opened the offshore account. Some wagging tongues are asking if said secret offshore bank account has anything to do with his public quarrel with his half-brother Jinggoy, but I dare not go there.

The revelation on Imee Marcos secret offshore bank account only means that it is a mistake or plain stupidity for the people to have allowed such travesty of letting the deposed dictator back to the country and worse allowing them to once again rule their fiefdom. While the like of these politicians like Imee Marcos continue to “praise” the OFW’s contribution to the Philippines with their billions of dollars in remittance to the country they shamelessly and hideously send them back out as fast as the OFWs can send them into the country. Now where is the outrage?

Unfortunately, no one really goes to jail for failure to disclose their assets in their SALN because our authorities are too dumb or was it too beholden to even consider following up on investigating if those assets are legitimate or not which is more likely illegitimate. After all why hide it in public if it was legitimate? Guess who are the first to complain about the endemic culture of corruption? Let us see if this administration is really up to the challenge but then again I doubt it that they are really serious in their straight narrow path to righteousness when they failed to prosecute the former Thief Justice errr CJ Corona, so can we expect anything different? I hate to think that we are just a big joke and truly a basket case in Asia, can we for once show our outrage and demand that those implicated be prosecuted without let-up until they pay for their crimes?

A Video Appeal of the Burgos Family to End Impunity

5 years and 338 days of searching for Jonas "Jay Jay" Burgos a picture surfaced that appears to have been taken after his abduction. A picture indeed is worth a thousand words and in it you can almost sense how Jonas sees his dire situation sensing his doomed fate in the hands of his captors.

If this administration is really serious in leading us towards the narrow straight path of righteousness they should start with ending impunity and state sanctioned terrorist activities of abducting and extra-judicial summary execution of political dissenters by military scalawags.

Mr. President, we hate to see you miss out on a once in a lifetime opportunity to change the course of history towards building a just, fair, and humane society that upholds the democratic ideals and principles of which your parents were a major contributor. Let us remind the President Noynoy Aquino that her mother the late President Cory Aquino was one of the first to come up with a statement of concern in May 2, 2007:
I view with the deepest concern the disappearance and apparent abduction by unknown forces of the farmer-activist Jonas Joseph Burgos, son of the late world press freedom fighter Jose Burgos Jr. who lit our paths in the dark, long years of martial rule.

I appeal to the highest authorities of the land to send the clear signal to the field, that Jonas Burgos must be surfaced immediately by whoever is holding him, and that no harm must come to him. If any organs of the state has a case whatsoever against him, we believe that Jonas must be allowed to defend himself in court, and not become part of the statistics of the disappeared and others who have fallen victim to extrajudicial punishment in these troubled times.

I pray for the safety of Jonas and that of the rest of the family of Joe Burgos.

May Our Lord have mercy on them!
The discovery of the picture that appears to have been taken right after his abduction is a good start that could lead to more information in finally knowing the whereabouts or in finding out if Jonas is still alive which we hope against hope that he is still with us.

Arresting Gen. Jovito Palparan will show the administration's seriousness in pursuing the narrow straight path. Their continued failure to arrest Palparan who could probably shed light on Burgos disappearance is a direct insult to the administrations straight narrow path of righteousness making a mockery and reducing it into an empty shallow worthless slogan for the gullible.

It is understandable that the late President Cory Aquino can only make an appeal because she was not the incumbent anymore but the inmate Gloria Arroyo but you Mr. President Noynoy Aquino is the the incumbent with 3 more years if we can borrow what your sister allegedly says to Yap. You can order the arrest and a thorough investigation to spare Editha Burgos the mother of Jonas the time, effort, money, and agony in filing cases with the high which is not cheap in finding out what happened to her son.
