Renato Corona Cries & Fight

Some 100 mass attendees mostly judiciary employees sang “The Impossible Dream” at a mass sponsored by Renato Corona’s supporters. It was reported that the Corona couple was seen wiping their tears, it was just not clear if the song made them cry or was it how they sang it? Anyway, for whatever its worth the Corona couple truly deserved to be nominated to a best acting award with the Famas except reality shows specifically one about jerks unlike tele-novela is not about acting so scratch that, LOL.

The noose is tightening and the drama intensifies with so much at stake (nah, the stake is not about reputation, hehehe), it is to be expected that praise release errr I meant reports about the players in the impeachment trial will try to outdo each other on who can grab the limelight for the best sound byte material for the 2013 election.

Of course Mr. Corona & family will be the most sought after not because they are the media darling but theirs is the biggest scandal now that makes for good headlines. Love the way he fights as if on cue he acts as if he is the poster boy of judiciary independence and democracy just like his former boss Gloria Arroyo who desperately tries to portray herself as the poster girl of freedom from flight este travel, to quote:
This is not my personal fight, this is the fight of the judiciary and democracy. If this [fight] is only for me, there is a simple solution. But this is not my personal fight. We will make known what is right under our Constitution.
Excuse me but did you not cheat errrr took the seat in the most frowned upon manner called midnight appointment clearly reserved for the uncouth thick skinned whose utter lack of decency and propriety maligns the position in unjustly clinging to it shamelessly?

It just gets better from hereon when Renato Corona utters this below:
Ang problema sa ibang tao, hindi ko na sasabihin kung sino, akala nila magnanakaw ako tulad nila (The problem with my detractors is that they think I'm a thief like them).

Wow that says a lot but when one who believes or was it deludes themselves they can do no wrong it loses its luster and gets to be a bad joke especially when he says this:
Eh di ilabas nila. Kung mailalabas nila iyong properties ko ibibigay ko na lang sa kanila (So disclose it. If they could produce the properties they can have them)…I will sign a deed of donation, Corona told reporters after the 7th day of Novena at the Supreme Court.

Really now, so here it is in the subpoena of the prosecution team detailing 45 properties under his name, the wife Cristina and children:

Well, from the looks of it and if the TCT is under Corona and his close relative’s name all the prosecution need to do is determine if they still own the properties and how they acquired or disposed of the properties in case they claim it is not theirs anymore. Amassing 45 properties is quite a feat and one has to be loaded in order to do so. Was that a fringe benefit when one works for high ranking politicians in office legit or otherwise? If it is it appears to be a very lucrative position beating even some CEO’s of multi-national companies.

It makes me wonder if people are really treating Corona seriously when he says whoever find his properties he will gladly sign a  deed of donation. Unfortunately it is not as simple as deeding it for donation if the allegations are true, it will be confiscated by the state since it belongs to the people not for him to donate or give away.
Impeachment 01

For a more detailed report read the Corona assets worth P200M by Cynthia D. Balana, Juliet Labog-Javellana of the Philippine Daily Inquirer. Now that alone should be enough to convict Renato Corona but it seems this is just the tip of the iceberg according to the prosecutors, sure don't want Corona to resign now. The impeachment proceedings will definitely be a teachable learning experience for all of us so as not to repeat the same aberration once again.......

15thOct at Occupy Wall Street Los Angeles Stronger & Louder

To view Occupy Wall Street protest as the rebirth of the hippies of the 60's psychedelic drug trips, love in, and free love has not been at the occupation ground to actually paint an accurate picture of an Arab Spring inspired protest. There is a similarity in terms of the commune spirit but that is more of instituting a system in addressing the immediate needs of the crowd of protesters adapting to a spartan existence of living in a tent. If pictures are said to be worth a thousand words being there 24 hours a day does not an image replace in gauging the actual conditions and sentiments of those protesters. Below are some of the images from the Occupy Wall Street Los Angeles:
The day starts with hot breakfast for the occupiers while drummers and musicians play their music for the crowd.
Kid Village where children are cared for and nurtured by adults in the occupied area of City Hall.
This is not exactly what you will expect from what others would like you to believe to be the 60's hippies all over again out for free love but instead urges you to love your neighbor... BIG difference!
While there are some wearing gas mask, it is still the Guy Fawkes V for Vendetta Mask or just cloth with or without the 99% printed on it that is the preferred outfit by quite a few occupiers. Majority of the protesters are not wearing mask but just the same would like to be heard among the multitudes.

Is this a class warfare as others would like us to believe particularly the conservatives at the Fixed News errr Fox News or a Robin Hood type rebellion of robbing the rich as others would like us to believe?
As crowds are getting charged up to march towards the financial center, Los Angeles will never be Los Angeles without some film or model shoot that goes on amidst the protest.
The protesters are clearly frustrated and most of the gripes centered on corporate greed, but not the type espoused by the Tea Party advocating for capitalist free reign with minimal government interference or regulation.

One thing that separates the OWS from the Tea Party is that politicians will have a hard time co-opting this movement unlike the Tea Party where they welcome quite a number of characters as their celebrity leaders. The more controversial (some says crazier) they get the better their chances of being idolized as their messiah errr leader.

OWS will definitely have a major impact on the 2012 presidential election, who will benefit the most would depend on how the administration deals with the current job crisis. Definitely the OWS are more popular and accepted by the people compared to the Tea Party, for one the absence of guns as if they are ready to resurrect the confederacy civil war is not included in the mix. Although there are points where the frustrations from the left and right seems to have turned to a circle and somehow seems to have crossed paths as in opposites attracts each other there is no way they will be unified into one movement. For one praying away the gay is not exactly what the crowds at OWS feel like doing or even have the stomach to witness such display of aberration.

The beauty of OWS is the varied sentiments and advocacy that is being discussed and presented at the occupied zone and they seem fine with it, ahhhh participatory democracy at its best.  I see no reason for OWS to be on the side of the Republicans but it does not mean that they are automatically with the democrats and if the current economic and political situation worsens, what I fear the most is the sentiments of this group as pictured below may catch on and we may end up with a Republican President, Senate and Congress.....
If majority of the OWS protesters and sympathizers gets so frustrated there is a likelihood that they will not turn out to vote. Less turn out from this sector will definitely help the Republicans who may just succeed at frustrating likely voters for Democrats with their ID requirements. If OWS stay the way it is unlike the Tea Party that allowed themselves to be co-opted by the Republicans, recent polls suggest majority of voters in NY agrees with them tilting towards the Democrat side. One thing seems to be certain OWS is here to stay and starting to get organized and with different sectors and minorities getting into the picture, OWS will be in for the long haul ........

15th October Occupy Wall Sreet Protest in Los Angeles

Thousands of occupiers march from LA City Hall to Pershing Square meeting up with another group of occupiers and from there Filipino-Americans belonging to Bayan, Anakbayan, & ILPS were on hand to show their support with the 99% marched to the financial district and back to City Hall.

Filipino Americans are not just marching they also set-up tents to not just show their solidarity but become part of the struggle of the 99%.

Occupy LA

The scene at the Los Angeles City Hall nowadays looks more like a microcosm of the diversity and more like a representation of society's 99%.

From where I am standing, they are not what the conservative press would like us to believe to be on the fringes of society. A lame attempt at comparing the occupy street protest with the Tea Party which has nothing in common except the feeling of frustration. Unlike the ones that belong to the real fringes I see no display of guns as if they are on the verge of fomenting or continuing the civil war past. I see people involve in intellectual discourse unlike how the Tea Party people displays hate and anger which seems to be their mode of conversation, LOL....
