National karate tourney in Baguio
Sparks and explosions are expected when the age-group karate tournament billed as “Mayor Sherwin Gatchalian Cup-First National Colleges and Universities and Karatedo Age Group and National Seniors Championship” unfolds in Baguio City on May 22 to 25, 2012.
Sponsored by Baguio Mayor Mauricio Domogan, Minaki Advance Ltd. president Yoro Tanak and the Wellex Group of companies, it will be participated in by high school, college and university students, clubs and karatedo teams.
Organized in close coordination with the Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines (FESSAP), its purpose is to select the national athletes who will represent Philippines at the World University Games set in July 2013 in Russia and in World University Karatedo Championship on July 12-15, 2012 in Bratislava, Slovakia.
Age group competitions include kids aged 8 years up to 17 years.

Meanwhile, on May 23, 2012, the Philippine Karatedo Federation, established in 1987, will hold its National Assembly and General Election at the FVR Gym, DECS Compound in Baguio City. All interested karatekas are invited to submit their candidacy with Mr. Nestor Acido, the Election Officer in Charge, who will validate the candidates’ qualifications.
